Are our Kindergarten students coming to us already as digital readers?

2 year olds navigating e-stories on an ipad? This is amazing. I think the LeapFrog Junior gizmos are cool. We have one of those. We have a regular book but then if I sync it with LeapFrog then my kids can hold the little gizmo and touch the words, sentences and pictures in the book. It comes to life and holds their attention much longer than if I just read it to them.

However, the ideas in this article are very interesting to think about. What do you think?

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello!  I am adding this to my learning journey so this site is under construction. Please check back!!

This blog is a starting block based from my capstone research at Hamline University on Technology Integration Professional Development.  My initial question was simple, “What works?”  To elaborate, “How can professional development increase or motivate teachers to use technology on a regular basis with their K-4th grade students?”

I would like this blog to build into a sharing site about easy ways to start integrating digital tools in primary classrooms.  I am sure there are many of us out there wondering what other primary grade students are doing with technology in school. And, how is it impacting their learning?  Another big question is how are teachers keeping up with all the tools available and finding time to use them?

Integrating technology is a journey. We [teachers] need to be traveling along because our students are engaged in a digital world outside our schools that we need to mirror in our classrooms.

Bookmark me! I’ll do my best to create a community of learners with your help.
